Raise your hand...

if you fast forward through Paula Abdul when she is judging on American Idol.

Theater 20

I have seen two movies in theater 20: Be Kind Rewind, and Smart People. It is the theater in the very back corner of the Foothill Ranch Regal. Both movies had just come out the weekend before, and I thought both were pretty good. So why does the management at the Foothill Ranch Regal think they are going to fail. I noticed the new Harold and Kumar was in a theater in the very front...that looks like a winner. Also, I noticed that you thought the success of Leatherheads was going to be high based on it's placement, guess you were wrong on that one.

I finally gave in...

and went to a different store in search for pepperoncinis. I bought three jars - 2 for home, and 1 for the office - just in case it takes awhile for my grocery store to restock.

Is it summer?

The weather is INCREDIBLE today. It feels like a July evening.

Bacon Perfume

I think of my husband every time I see this commercial. Jonathan would love it if I smelled like bacon or (especially) steak.

The Witts Seriously Need This

I am just letting you know on more than one occasion the measuring tape has been taken out to see who was taking up more of our king size bed, and who was sleeping more on who's side.

Imagine trying to maneuver through this trail of stuff on the way to the bathroom at three in the morning. You can tell it has been a crazy past couple of day and week.

You thought I was kidding...

...about how much I love Pepperoncinis, but this is a lean cuisine pizza that I ate today at lunch.
That is a pretty solid layer of Pepperocinis on top. You may be thinking that I put extras on since I haven't been able to have them this last week. You're wrong. I just love them that much. Also, this is a jar I had stashed at work, they are still out at my grocery store.

If I knew you were coming, I'd a baked a cake...

I just made two cakes for a couples shower for Alanna and Jared that is happening tonight. The problem with baking is not that I eat all the yummy goodies that I make, but rather I eat all the batter in the process of making the cake. Now my stomach hurts, hope it's not salmonella from the raw eggs in the batter.

My Next Vacation

There are two things you should know about me. I LOVE camping (I know there are few people who stand with me in this declaration), and I love doing things I have never done before. A couple times I have read about staying in a tent in El Capitan Canyon in Santa Barbara. They have queen sized feather beds inside their tents, and you cook all your food around a private campfire. The funny thing is I really love my sleeping bag (I realize that is weird to some people), but I will be giving it up for the next time I take a weekend vacation with my husband to stay in this tent.

A quick stop at the store...

I went to the store again today looking for sliced pepperoncini, and the store is still out. What the heck? Seriously! Don't they know my meals are bland?

On a side note: my kindness was in full force when I let a guy go in front of me and my full cart, because he was only had four items: three 40 Ouncers and a bottle of Captain Morgan. Sounds like a party.

Tip of the Day

A couple of days ago on my Tips of the Day from Real Simple the headline said," Remove Unwanted Hair with These 6 Products" so I saved it on my Bloglines to read for later. I thought, "I would like to know some easy ways to get hair out of drains."

So today I opened it and it wasn't about Drain-o at all, it was about shaving your legs. Guess I was way off.

NEW Mexico

My husband hails from New Mexico. And apparently there you have the attitude of "I can make fun of it and you can laugh, but you can't say anything negative about it."

So when I went to the Cheesecake Factory to order a cheesecake to be delivered (to someone else, not myself...although what a lush life that would be?) I found it quite funny to see this warning on the website:

*NOTE* We cannot ship to New Mexico addresses.

Of course they can't. Also, you can't drive rented cars into New Mexico, and Jonathan has let me know several times that The State of Enchantment is about three years behind on trends of all kinds.

Adventures in Lunch

Today at Chili's everyone decided I was going to order for them, and left me as soon as the waiter got to the table.

Here is the run down on what I decided:
Katie Shannon: Southwestern Cobb with Grilled Chicken (same as me)
Josh Griffin: Sliders with French Fries
Zack Barker: Chicken Ranch Sandwich
Bethany Johnson: Oldtimer Cheeseburger EVERYTHING on the side (I have NEVER eaten with Bethany so I was really nervous)

All in all went pretty well but since they forced me to do it they weren't going to complain so who really knows.

How fun are adventures?

What is the world coming to?

I just went to the store and they were out of sliced Pepperoncini. What am I supposed to put on everything I eat until the next time I can get to the store?

So take a look at me now...

Usually the artist choice of the night on American Idol has no effect on me. The contestants are singing songs I love, but hearing them is good enough. Not when it comes to Mariah Carey. I had to listen to some Mariah on our way home after watching AI. I am a purist and love the old school Mariah. The new Mariah is far from my favorite...I mean I am changing the station when "Touch My Body" comes on. BUT when it comes to old school "Always Be My Baby" and "Dreamlover" I am get to the line of fanatic. My husband knows this, because it is so rare that I sing so loud and with such passion in the car except for when a great old school Mariah is on the radio!

"Heart breaker you got the best of me..."

Get Your Hair Did

The time of the year has come when I only do my hair completely for special occasions, because blow drying my hair is out of the question. Even though I live in a cave (all lights have to be on at noon in the dead of summer in order to see where you are walking) my bathroom stays a consistent temperature of the surface of the sun...starting around April. Since there is one outlet that has three things that consistently want to be plugged in, putting a fan in there is out of the question. It's not all bad. It is great when you are in a hurry and wet hair is no biggie, and you get really creative with the way you do your hair. My favorite these days is the side bun (see below). So when you see me from now until September please know that I am not lazy...I just don't see the point in blow drying my hair if I am going to be drenched in my own sweat.

Men...you just don't understand.

I heart Ikea

I am just going to put it out there. The number one reason I love Ikea is because it is cheap. I spent $6.22 today and I bought three items. A mini measuring cup that looks like a beaker (Do you know where I can find other beaker looking things? I would love it if my house looked like the MAC store), a 79 cent vase, and a bottle opener that you screw into your wall...it won't get used that much, but I have always wanted one.

Mondays by Myself

Today I was driving home on the freeway by myself. Apparently this is something that rarely happens, because all of a sudden I realized I was in the carpool lane. Then I had the moral dilemma of whether or not I should cross the double yellow lines or stay in the carpool lane until I could get out. I couldn't decide which the cop would think is worst. I decided to cross the double yellows.

We're going camping now, we're on our way...

Headed to Julian for a cold weekend of fun and camping. I will post pictures when we are back. If you hear a report of someone getting eaten by a mountain lion...it is probably me.

I will eat a piece of apple pie for you!

2 Years Ago Today...

...I went golfing with Jonathan and he asked me to marry him. So happy I said yes! I couldn't find any actual pictures of the proposal, but I thought this "Engagement" photo would make you happy!

Seriously?

Do you think this guy puts on this full jumpsuit every time he wants to ride his motorcycle?

I DO NOT heart Walmart

I am just putting it out there. Some times they are the best place for what we need - today it was fishing line - but even then I HATE going there. I can't explain it. All I can say is it is no Target.

I seriously need this...

I am notorious for being late about five to ten minutes wherever I go. Griff should buy me this shirt since it is my mantra to him.

The Carsons are back in town...

Our friends Drew and Jenny have just recently moved back to California from Florida. Today when I was walking through Target I heard someone call my name and it was Jenny. I was so excited to see her...mostly because she lives here again and running into her at Target isn't that that uncommon. It so great to have them back!

More gifts...

Jaime donated this gorgeous table to the Witt Household. It is a little big for the apartment, but it will fit beautifully in our new residence!

I heart Gifts

The other day we were at Brian's House and I spotted a really cute bottle opener hanging on the fridge. Brian told me he had bought it when he was in Budapest. He asked if I wanted it...and I kind of did. So he gave it to me. I love it! I won't use it that often, but it will be so cute as it sits on my fridge waiting to be used!

It could win a contest...

For Best Picture of Katie Shannon EVER!

Freakin' Scary

So I was sitting at the computer and a spider dropped down from the ceiling on a web right in front of my face. It scared the crap out of me.

Jonathan had to come kill it...I just couldn't do it. You think he would have been in the mood from all the Halo he had been playing, but really he was just bugged that I screamed for him to come in the room (bugged - no pun intended).

If This Is It...

I may or may not have just added some Huey Lewis & the News songs to my Itunes library from the Itunes store.

Cooking Class

We shot a video at my house today that had to do with a pot of boiling water. We needed some really good vapor so we added some pasta. Allison taught me something, if you put butter in the water with the pasta it doesn't boil over. Who knew? She said she learned it from making macaroni and cheese. Michele (my mom) wasn't to keen on the blue box...so I only ate mac and cheese at Alanna's house when she made it for me. I guess I was really missing out on a learning experience.

T-t-t-today Junior

So lately I have noticed I am developing a stutter. I am not sure if it is stress or excitement that causes it, but I do know that it is there. Today when I ate lunch Blythe I stuttered three times. How embarrassing!

Changing people one blog reader at a time...

I wanted to share a part of an email I got the other day...

I read through your blog today, by the way, and think you're hilarious. And I've totally written a check at Target. Embarrassing, I know.

Just making people aware...that is my goal. Don't worry Melissa - I don't judge you.

Summertime and the livin's easy...

I was talking about how I would like a black large brimmed hat to wear in/around the pool this summer, and my friend Allison sent me a link to this cute one. I promptly put it on my lean cuisine schedule. I have eaten 1 lunch out of 6 towards it. It will be the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe!
